Folio outline Your folio will include the following: · A lesson plan for either an F2 class, 34 class or a 56 class. Your lesson should provide an opportunity for students to explore a key concept of the Measurement and geometry strand within the Australian Curriculum: Mathematics, and will demonstrate your capacity to plan and assess lessons based on sound pedagogical principles that demonstrate your understanding of the Australian Curriculum: Mathematics. · A reflection in which you will analyse the planning process and the pedagogy behind it. Lesson plan (750 words) You should engage with the content of Theme B: Measurement and Geometry and choose a strand for which you are able to plan an engaging lesson. You need to consider the year level, lesson order (i.e. first on this theme), what prior knowledge you are building upon and how you will meet the needs of a diverse group of students. You need to apply your knowledge of mathematical pedagogy in the planning of your lesson. Your lesson plan should include: · key aims, activities and resources for the lesson · mapping to Australian Curriculum content · any strategies you could use to cater for diversity or inclusive approaches · any strategies to enhance the use of ICT. Reflection (500 words maximum) In addition to your lesson plan, your folio must incorporate a concise reflection on your development of the lesson plan. This should include: · an analysis of the pedagogy that underpins your lesson: o Why did you choose the particular pedagogy? o How does the pedagogy support the activities in your lesson? o What are the features of the pedagogy that make it appropriate for your lesson? o What are the strengths, benefits and limitations of the pedagogy? o How were your choices influenced by the three teachers in the learning materials? · an explanation about how you incorporated strategies for diversity and inclusion, and the usage of ICT within your lesson · an explanation about how you incorporated the peer feedback into your lesson plan (see notes below regarding peer review) · a description of how you would develop this lesson into a series of lessons that would form a unit of work on Measurement and Geometry for your chosen year level.
