Esty in their paper “The Sustainability Imperative” (May 2010) Harvard Business Review, Vol. 88 Issue 5, p. 42 – 50 highlight at least four reasons why “sustainability” qualifies as a megatrend. Briefly discuss any three of these reasons. (15 Marks) Question 2: Peace & Conflict Wakanda is a small country in North America. After 30 years of brutal military rule, Wakanda conducted her first democratic election in January this year with Mr. Alex Kingston declared as the winner. Mr. Kingston took the oath of office as President in March this year promising the people of Wakanda that his government will heal the three-decade wounds of oppressive military regime. President Kingston intends to set up a Truth and Reconciliation Commission (“TRC”) to investigate series of human rights abuses and violation and is considering appointing you as the Chairperson of the proposed TRC. President Kingston has contacted you seeking your opinion on the following issues: A. What is the purpose and goal of a TRC? (5 Marks) B. What factors must be considered for a successful TRC? (10 Marks) Answer these questions with reference to at least one of the Truth and Reconciliation Commissions as well as readings discussed in this course.
