Health Organization Evaluation
The selected health network is Banner Health. The organization is a non-for-profit health system based in Phoenix, Arizona in the United States. Banner Health is reputable and is among the leading health systems in the US. It operates thirty hospitals and numerous specialized facilities across six different states including California, Colorado, Nevada, Arizona, Nebraska, and Wyoming. The aim of this paper is to assess the readiness of this organization in regard to realization of the health care needs of citizens in the next decade.
Description of the Banner Health
Banner Health characterizes a health US health system that was founded in 1999 following the merger between North Dakota-based Lutheran Health Systems and Phoenix-based Samaritan Health System. The health system provides various health services including medical equipment services, family clinics, a nursing registry, and home care. The organization also provides emergency care services, basic medical services, and specialized services such as rehabilitation services, multiple-birth deliveries, organ transplant, heat care, obstetrics, surgery, medical education, and behavioral health services (Kuhn & Lehn, 2015). Banner Health strives to remain committed to its mission by ensuring ease of access to health care services to better their lives. As a non-profit making organization, Banner Health focuses on providing better health care services to the people and community rather than making profits. As such, any proceed earned by the organization is used for the efforts of improving the facility and services provided such as investing in technologies, hospital beds, hiring new clinicians, staff remuneration, and maintenance of equipment and facilities.
Overall Readiness of the Banner Health
Banner Health is focused on provision of quality and cost effective care. As such, the organization has embarked on embracing models of value-based reimbursement in health care in an effort to achieve the healthcare needs of the people in the next decade. Value-based reimbursement rewards value in the health care provision and not the volume and also strives to shift the financial burden and clinical risk from the patients to the providers. This helps in reducing health care cost, enhance quality, and increase efficiency (Kuhn & Lehn, 2015). The shift from volume to value-based payment methods aims to increase quality, reduce cost, enhance population health management, improve stakeholder engagement, and increase efficiency, which position the organization at a better position to provide sophisticated health care for citizens in the next decade through ensuring continuing quality improvement and enhancing patient health outcomes.
High health care cost is a growing concern in the current health care system. As such, health care systems are authorized find ways of ensuring provision quality, timely, safe, reliable, effective, and consistent care. Since Banner Health emphasizes on population health, it should realize the responsibility it has on the overall care for their patients and work towards measures of enhancing population health. The Banner Health can facilitate cultural transition from volume to value-based reimbursement through an approach of training providers to ensure innovative ideas on providing services that realizes the consumer needs.
A Strategic Plan to Address Issues Pertaining to Network Growth, Nurse Staffing, Resource Management, and Patient Satisfaction
Banner Health has put sufficient strategic planning process to deal with many issues in the organization. Pertaining to network growth, the organization is intending to develop new facilities to enable efficient response to the present and future health care needs of the citizens. The organization is planning to have widespread medical centers to provide convenience in health care access by the patients. Since Banner Health operates across various states, the plan is to invest in the growth of its network in these different states to ensure that the clients have efficient health care access when need arises (Aafedt, 2021).
Pertaining to nurse staffing, the organization recognizes the critical role nurses play in the success of health care delivery and enhancement of patient outcomes. As such, Banner Health focuses on staffing approaches that can enhance effective health care delivery. As such, the organization often seeks to ensure a good patient nurse ratio to reduce workload, burnout, and related effects on both patients and nurses (Aafedt, 2021). Regarding resource management, Banner Health strives to utilize the available resources effectively to ensure affordable health care to patients. The organization is embracing the current health care transformation efforts such as value-based reimbursement and enhanced health care services to reduce costs. To boost population health, the organization has set management plans for population, which seeks to enhance the management and utilization of resources in the health system to improve population health.
Pertaining to patient satisfaction, Banner Health seeks to enhance patient satisfaction by providing a platform through a feedback system where patients can share their experience. The organization also uses technologies to enhance patient satisfaction by leveraging the technology to foster communication between patients and providers and amongst providers and also to ensure efficiency (Aafedt, 2021). For instance, the organization provides remote care through telemedicine where patients can easily interact with physicians at the comfort of their homes.
Current or Potential Issues within the Organizational Culture and How they can Affect Aspects of the Strategic Plan
The organizational culture at the Banner Health is relatively rigid on employees’ involvement in decision making process. This is a potential issue within the organization that can make it challenging to effectively implement the strategic plan in the organization (Tian & Zhai, 2019). The organizational culture tends to influence the routine operations and the strategy that the organization opts for. With this understanding, it is evident that organizational culture significantly contributes to the application of strategic plan in the organization. Therefore, it is imperative for Banner Health to consider employee engagement in the thinking and decision making process of the organization or risk bleak outcomes in strategic planning.
A Model to Support Implementation of the Strategic Plan for the Organization
The appropriate model that can be used by Banner Health to support strategic plan implementation is goal-based planning model. This model is ideal for the organization since it emphasizes on both barriers and opportunities in the organization. While executing strategic planning, the mission, vision, and core values of the organization are revisited and subsequently assessed for strengths and weaknesses. Consequently, an action plan is created to help in realizing the goals (Elwyn & Vermunt, 2020). This model will help Banner Health to identify its goals, strategies, and action plan to follow to attain the goals.
Conclusion
The Banner Health has strategically positioned itself as one of the leading health systems in the US through ensuring appropriate strategy changes. To date, the organization remains reputable for quality and affordable health care provider and seeks to continue in the next decades. The organization has adopted value-based reimbursement to increase safety, quality, and cost reduction and enhance health outcomes. The organization strives to improve competitive edge in the American health system through continuous improvements in various aspects such as network growth, nurse staffing, resource management, and patient satisfaction.

Health Organization Evaluation
Research a health care organization or network that spans several states with in the United States (United Healthcare, Vanguard, Banner Health, etc.). Assess the readiness of the health care organization or network you chose in regard to meeting the health care needs of citizens in the next decade.
Prepare a 1,000-1,250 word paper that presents your assessment and proposes a strategic plan to ensure readiness. Include the following:
1. Describe the health care organization or network.
2. Describe the organization’s overall readiness based on your findings.
3. Prepare a strategic plan to address issues pertaining to network growth, nurse staffing, resource management, and patient satisfaction.
4. Identify any current or potential issues within the organizational culture and discuss how these issues may affect aspects of the strategic plan.
5. Propose a theory or model that could be used to support implementation of the strategic plan for this organization. Explain why this theory or model is best.
Prepare this assignment according to the guidelines found in the APA Style Guide, located in the Student Success Center. An abstract is not required.
You must proofread your paper. But do not strictly rely on your computer’s spell-checker and grammar-checker; failure to do so indicates a lack of effort on your part and you can expect your grade to suffer accordingly. Papers with numerous misspelled words and grammatical mistakes will be penalized. Read over your paper – in silence and then aloud – before handing it in and make corrections as necessary. Often it is advantageous to have a friend proofread your paper for obvious errors. Handwritten corrections are preferable to uncorrected mistakes.
Use a standard 10 to 12 point (10 to 12 characters per inch) typeface. Smaller or compressed type and papers with small margins or single-spacing are hard to read. It is better to let your essay run over the recommended number of pages than to try to compress it into fewer pages.
Likewise, large type, large margins, large indentations, triple-spacing, increased leading (space between lines), increased kerning (space between letters), and any other such attempts at “padding” to increase the length of a paper are unacceptable, wasteful of trees, and will not fool your professor.
The paper must be neatly formatted, double-spaced with a one-inch margin on the top, bottom, and sides of each page. When submitting hard copy, be sure to use white paper and print out using dark ink. If it is hard to read your essay, it will also be hard to follow your argument.
ADDITIONAL INSTRUCTIONS FOR THE CLASS
Discussion Questions (DQ)
Initial responses to the DQ should address all components of the questions asked, include a minimum of one scholarly source, and be at least 250 words.
Successful responses are substantive (i.e., add something new to the discussion, engage others in the discussion, well-developed idea) and include at least one scholarly source.
One or two sentence responses, simple statements of agreement or “good post,” and responses that are off-topic will not count as substantive. Substantive responses should be at least 150 words.
I encourage you to incorporate the readings from the week (as applicable) into your responses.
Weekly Participation
Your initial responses to the mandatory DQ do not count toward participation and are graded separately.
In addition to the DQ responses, you must post at least one reply to peers (or me) on three separate days, for a total of three replies.
Participation posts do not require a scholarly source/citation (unless you cite someone else’s work).
Part of your weekly participation includes viewing the weekly announcement and attesting to watching it in the comments. These announcements are made to ensure you understand everything that is due during the week.
APA Format and Writing Quality
Familiarize yourself with APA format and practice using it correctly. It is used for most writing assignments for your degree. Visit the Writing Center in the Student Success Center, under the Resources tab in LoudCloud for APA paper templates, citation examples, tips, etc. Points will be deducted for poor use of APA format or absence of APA format (if required).
Cite all sources of information! When in doubt, cite the source. Paraphrasing also requires a citation.
I highly recommend using the APA Publication Manual, 6th edition.
Use of Direct Quotes
I discourage overutilization of direct quotes in DQs and assignments at the Masters’ level and deduct points accordingly.
As Masters’ level students, it is important that you be able to critically analyze and interpret information from journal articles and other resources. Simply restating someone else’s words does not demonstrate an understanding of the content or critical analysis of the content.
It is best to paraphrase content and cite your source.
LopesWrite Policy
For assignments that need to be submitted to LopesWrite, please be sure you have received your report and Similarity Index (SI) percentage BEFORE you do a “final submit” to me.
Once you have received your report, please review it. This report will show you grammatical, punctuation, and spelling errors that can easily be fixed. Take the extra few minutes to review instead of getting counted off for these mistakes.
Review your similarities. Did you forget to cite something? Did you not paraphrase well enough? Is your paper made up of someone else’s thoughts more than your own?
Visit the Writing Center in the Student Success Center, under the Resources tab in LoudCloud for tips on improving your paper and SI score.
Late Policy
The university’s policy on late assignments is 10% penalty PER DAY LATE. This also applies to late DQ replies.
Please communicate with me if you anticipate having to submit an assignment late. I am happy to be flexible, with advance notice. We may be able to work out an extension based on extenuating circumstances.
If you do not communicate with me before submitting an assignment late, the GCU late policy will be in effect.
I do not accept assignments that are two or more weeks late unless we have worked out an extension.
As per policy, no assignments are accepted after the last day of class. Any assignment submitted after midnight on the last day of class will not be accepted for grading.
Communication
Communication is so very important. There are multiple ways to communicate with me:
Questions to Instructor Forum: This is a great place to ask course content or assignment questions. If you have a question, there is a good chance one of your peers does as well. This is a public forum for the class.
Individual Forum: This is a private forum to ask me questions or send me messages. This will be checked at least once every 24 hours.
