Laws Affecting Compensation
Unsure of legal obligations in designing a total compensation plan, a client has asked you, as a human resources consultant, to explain how certain laws and regulations affect total compensation in their organization. The client’s organization employs 200 people, is a federal contractor, and operates in the biotech industry. Write a 700- to 1,050-word paper (in the third person) which provides examples of laws and regulations that influence total compensation. You will not need to write more than two laws or regulations. One of the laws must focus on the Fair Labor and Standards Act (FLSA). Do not exceed the two laws limitation.. Make sure you focus on the similarities and differences in different external markets Analyze similarities and differences in total compensation between the biotech organization and other organizations in different external markets. Do not select healthcare or pharmaceuticals as the other industry. As an example you may select an organization in retail, manufacturing, hospitality, transportation, distribution, farming, etc. Discuss at least one example that illustrates such similarities and one example describing the difference between the biotech industry and the industry of you choosing.
