Leadership Behaviors
1. Give an example of a successful or unsuccessful transformational leader. What if anything about the context (e.g., industry, marketplace, competition, time in history, etc) do you believe assisted or hindered the person in their efforts to be successful? 2. In a changing environment, what leader behavior is most effective using the path-goal approach? In chapter six, Northouse states the pathgoal approach suggests that leaders need to choose a leadership style that best fits the needs of followers and the work they are doing. The sales division of a local large organization revenue has plummeted, and the leader has implemented a new compensation structure. The sales team members are not receptive because the revision is highly competitive. Based on this theory which leader behavior is most effective in order to motivate their followers. Is it possible for the leader to use all four leadership behaviors (directive, supportive, participative, and achievement-oriented)?
