Conduct a literature search and locate a scholarly article about a nursing intervention that was delivered via “telehealth.” Summarize the findings, and offer suggestions for how this research could be applicable to other patients with different disease conditions.

Consider that you are a healthcare consumer newly diagnosed with a serious health problem (select a health concern of interest to you). Assume that you know very little about the condition. Conduct a Web search for information, answering the following questions:
a) Were you able to find the information you needed? If not, what was missing?
b) What conflicting information did you find?
c) Did you find any information that was upsetting or distressing?
d) Were you able to find on-line support groups or other interactive resources?
e) Having found this information, what kinds of questions or expectations would you have for the nurse at your next visit?

Technology and Distance Education
Module 6 introduces the use of technology in education, addressing technology-based resources and strategies appropriate for use with diverse clients within academic and healthcare settings. This module provides an overview of the technology involved and the implications for the educator and the learner. Specifically, this module provides a look at different ways of utilizing available technologies and discusses strengths of the system and problems that can occur. Lastly, this module will examine distance education, focusing on the issues and factors that are common to most forms of distance learning, followed by more specific information on both synchronous and asynchronous applications.
Time Requirements:
The amount of time required to complete assignments in this module is approximately 17 to 20 hours.

The Internet has opened a new and extensive world of information that was not previously available. Teaching in a technological world requires educators to collaborate with information specialists to learn how to use ever-changing systems, and to keep abreast of new resources as they become available. Nurse educators need some technological proficiency and a comfort level with computer technology in order to use technology to enhance teaching and learning and to supply nurses and patients with the skills they need to access information.
