Physical Child Abuse and its Effects

The objective of this project is for you to demonstrate your understanding of your role as a crisis counselor in working with a client who is undergoing the crisis related to the topic chosen If you choose chapter 9 – Crises Related to Personal Trauma you must choose a specific trauma discussed in the chapter (e.g. Sexual Assault/Rape, Child Abuse, Intimate Partner Violence, Bullying) Your paper must include the following: Fictional scenario and client (It can be based on a real life person/situation, but change the name to protect their confidentiality.) Your thorough understanding of the topic chosen. You should include the effect(s) on your client due to the crisis Your understanding and incorporation of the ABC Model (covered in the textbook ) working with the client Your paper should also provide all of the following: What is the purpose of the ABC Model? Provide a brief overview for each stage Provide specific examples you would use with your client Eg. Chapter 9 explores victims of rape. What specific open ended questions would you use with this client while you are trying to develop and maintain rapport? (Stage A) How would you attempt to identify the problem with your client? (Stage B) How would you encourage the client to develop new coping behaviors? (Stage C)
