1. Discuss the nature and significance of the local problem. My local problem is suicide and suicidal ideation among school-aged children in my local town in rural Idaho.
2. Utilize a PICOT question to guide a capstone practice project. My PICOT is: In school-aged children, how does positive affirmation intervention compared to no intervention affect suicide ideation within 30 days. Overview Problem Description Provide a background of the nature and significance of the local problem. This should be summarized in a few paragraphs (not a few pages).
Build a case for the need for the project that you propose by discussing key indicators that are missing, lacking or inadequate. Smoothly transition into a problem statement (PICOT).
It should flow logically from the information you provided. Identify and define the outcomes you will be measuring.
This is the O of your PICOT. Your outcomes can be defined based on how you will be measuring them. If you are measuring success, what indicators will you be using to define and measure success?

Identifying the measurement tool or data you will use to evaluate your outcomes is helpful in defining your outcomes.
