Professional Philosophy
1. Write a professional philosophy. a. Read the NAEYC code of ethical conduct and statement of commitment, https://www.naeyc.org/sites/default/files/globally-shared/downloads/PDFs/resources/position-statements/Ethics%20Position%20Statement2011_09202013update.pdf. b. Write a professional philosophy that outlines your commitment to being an early childhood professional. The paper should include the value of professional development, ways you will stay updated in current trends in early childhood, and ways you will promote ethical behavior. This assignment should be no more than 1 page, times new roman, 12-point ft., double spaced. 2. Choose one way you will complete your professional development: a. Professional Conference: Mississippi Early Childhood Association (MSECA) conference, October 15th-29th in Jackson, MS https://www.mississippiearlychildhood.org/conference b. Online Training: Atlanta Speech School Rollins Center for Language & Literacy’s professional development program Cox Campus: https://www.coxcampus.org/ c. Training through your place of employment: Must be early childhood focused, at least 6 hours, and pre-approved by the instructor. 3. Submit necessary requirements based on your choice of professional development. a. Professional Conference: If you choose the MsECA conference, you will need to attend for a minimum of one entire day (to include keynote and breakout sessions). You will need to provide evidence of completion via a scanned copy of your session attendance document with stickers/signatures for participation in sessions. b. Online Training: If you chose the online training your selected professional development activity, you must participate in 6 hours of training, submit evidence (though certificates of completion). c. Training through your place of employment: If you chose the training through your place of employment, you must attend 6 hours of training, submit evidence of completion (through sign-in sheet, validated by a center administrator or a certificate of completion).
