In this module, you are required to submit your paper.You are to write a paper regarding your own experiences with trauma and with indirectly observing trauma in others. If you haven’t had any experience with these issues either directly or indirectly, how do you think you would deal with such experiences in the future?The purpose of this paper is to help you as a social worker to prepare yourself to deal and cope with individuals, families, and communities experiencing trauma and PTSD. Understanding the role of countertransference and developing a plan to cope with personal or secondary trauma is crucial.Self-Care Plan AssignmentThere are three parts to the assignment. Read this section carefully to ensure you have completed all sections.First Part:Identify and describe two traumatic experiences in your life: one personal and one professional. Discuss why you chose these two experiences. For instance, maybe you or a client you counseled experienced one or more of the following situations:Suffered the loss of a loved one, perhaps by traumatic means such as suicide or murderSuffered the loss of a parent in a violent situation or at a young ageExperienced a disaster such as a fire or a floodExperienced homelessness or displacementUnderwent a life or death surgeryIf you have not directly or indirectly experienced any traumatic situations, describe situations that would be distressing to you if they were to happen. Keep in mind that you must include descriptions of one personal and one professional trauma, even if you choose to describe imaginary situations. Be sure to reference the rubric for these requirements.Describe in your paper how you have (or think you would have) coped and managed the trauma in both the personal and the professional experience.Sometimes social workers are drawn to this line of work because of traumatic situations they have experienced and overcome, and yet as practitioners, we need to be prepared professionally and emotionally to deal with certain populations with similar traumas. Insight and self-reflection shape how you practice social work. Every person copes with difficult situations differently.Second Part:Find three articles that relate to each of the traumatic experiences you have described.Select important concepts/skills from the articles and discuss how these concepts/skills relate to your experiences.Be sure to include some articles about self-care as a social worker!Third Part:For the final section in your assignment, develop a plan for yourself reflecting on how you will cope with trauma professionally and personally in order to better prepare yourself as a practitioner and social worker.
