You are working with an elementary school in Edmonton to develop a three-hour workshop for students, which aims to enhance students appreciation of nature. The principal suggested the following participant objectives for the workshop: · Students will understand what nature is and learn to pay attention to it. · Students will appreciate the benefits that come with opportunities to interact with nature. · Develop a plan for interacting with and enjoying nature. a) Critique and re-write (if necessary) the objectives identified by the school principal (10 marks). b) Describe two activities you will use in the workshop to facilitate participants achievement of at least two of the objectives (6 mark). c) What is your rationale for using these activities (4 marks)? d) Identify two strengths and two limitations of each activity (4 marks). e) Describe three strategies/tips that will increase the likelihood that the activities will be successful (6 marks). 2. Read one of the two articles posted (Assignment reading 1 and 2), and discuss the program that is described in the article as it relates to course content. Specifically: a) Identify and briefly describe two characteristics/dimensions of the program described in the article you read, which you will focus on in your answer (i.e., the two characteristics/dimensions of the program should relate to course content) (8 marks). b) Identify and describe two key concepts, theories, and topics etc. from course content, which relate to the characteristics/dimensions of the program you discussed in part a) (8 marks). c) Describe how the course concepts, theories, topics etc. discussed in part b) relate to the characteristics/dimensions of the program discussed in part a). That is, in what ways are they similar/different? And/or, in what ways do the course concepts, theories, topics etc. discussed in part b) align with the characteristics/dimensions of the program discussed in part a)? (6 marks). 3. Identify and describe three factors that can influence small group communication (12 marks). Discuss how program leaders can use knowledge about these factors when they are facilitating programs (6 marks). 4. Consider the following scenario that occurs within a program session that involves 10 participants: Morgan: I think that my idea has considerable merit and meets our needs. Jordan: Thats ridiculous, it will never work. Morgan: Get off my case! I dont see you proposing any better solutions. Name and briefly describe two strategies that could be used to honour both Morgan and Jordans points of view and to resolve this impasse (6 marks). Explain why these two strategies are likely to be effective in this situation (6 marks).
