SOCI 2999-101 Due Date: November 8, 2020 Article Summary The purpose of this assignment is to locate a sociology or criminology article of interest from an academic journal and to write a summary of the article. Students should select a research article from a peer-reviewed sociological journal, such as American Journal of Sociology, American Sociological Review, Social Forces or Social Problems. To locate articles use Google Scholar or databases such as JSTOR and Academic Search Complete on CNMs library website.[*] Students should select articles that present research findings; do not use book reviews or articles that are only theoretical in nature. Please provide the following information when writing your summary: Provide formal citation of the article. What is the main topic of the article? Why is it important? What research question or questions does the article seek to answer? Based on the literature reviewed by the article, what are the key debates, controversies, and/or gaps in knowledge to which the article aims to contribute? What sociological concepts and/or theories does the article deal with? Who is being studied? Who are the subjects of this research? What is the population being analyzed? What methodology is used in the research? What is the source of the data? What are the benefits and shortcomings of the methods used? What are the main findings or claims of the article? What evidence does the article provide to support the main findings or claims? What were the strengths and weaknesses of the article? Do you believe that the article provides a persuasive argument?
