Im trying to study for my Writing course and I need some help to understand this question.
Using multiple methods to collect data can reinforce qualitative findings. This is why most researchers prefer mixed methods, you get the hard data that can be supported with qualitative rich context.
However, one aspect of mixed methods that folks don’t always pay attention to is how the two methods (quant and qual) are being integrated. Does one inform the other? Are they seeking equivalent things? In these cases, we need to determine which aspect is the primary approach, and then ask how the secondary approach refined or supported the primary approach.
