I’m trying to study for my Art & Design course and I need some help to understand this question.

Assignment 1

You will be required to post a power point comparing a male impressionist painter (Degas, Renoir, Monet) with a female impressionist painter (Morisot, Cassatt, Bracquemond) using a like subject IE: La Loge by Renoir and In The Loge by Mary Cassatt. To thoroughly explore the following questions I would suggest that you select a painting that has people in it. You will be required to post an initial comparison and then comment on two of your peers’ initial postings. Be sure to argue different interpretations of the same subject (or even object) considering whether or not it is HERstory or HIStory. This may require some digging in to some research/professional analysis/critiques. Your post should identify the “views” being expressed, which also become interesting in the context of the “gaze” or who is peeping at whom.

Take a trip to a museum (either physically or virtually). After you tour the museum, consider the works on view, the organization, the curatorial concerns of exhibition, and write a critique.
