Select a news report on a current social issue or choose a personal issue that you will relate to for both papers. For this first paper, you will apply it to the theories from Modules 2 and 3. Use at least 2 of the classical or contemporary grand theories to analyze the issue. The paper should be between 500-750 words (about 2 to 3 double-spaced, 12-pt font pages) and address each of the following:
-
- As you introduce the paper, provide an overview of the chosen issue/problem by explaining your personal experience or providing a recap of the issue citing the news article (about 100-150 words)
- Compare and contrast how each of the 2 chosen theories apply to the issue/problem by using information from the textbook to apply the theories to your experience/article (about 250-350 words)
- As you conclude the paper, choose which theory tends to provide the best viewpoint for proposing potential answers for solving the issue/problem and explain how looking at the issue from this perspective works best. (about 150-250 words)
Be sure to paraphrase in your own words and cite the textbook and any other materials that help you form your thoughts. Use at least 3 to 4 in-text citations of the textbook in APA format with your paraphrases of the information.
