I’m studying for my History class and don’t understand how to answer this. Can you help me study?

Do you feel that politicians represent your interest and/or the interest of your location? It is what we elected them for correct, so we should have some say in what they do. Our first impression is that the politicians represent the powerful lobbies in their districts. A Senator from Detroit who does not help the auto industry probably will not get elected again. Another thought that is common is that the politicians work primarily for the rich or elite. The people who raise the most money for them. The last Illinois Governors race cost over $100 million dollars. This bears the question of can only the rich get elected?
