Read The Atlantic article “The Thucydides Trap: Are the U.S. and China Headed for War? By Professor Graham Allison, September 24, 2015. On page 7 of the article there is a table which shows the sixteen instances in which a ruling power and a rising power came into conflict. In twelve (12) of the sixteen (16) occasions, the powers went to war. You are to prepare a paper whose theme will be one of the twelve occasions that led to war, but not World War I (Russia, U.K. France vs. Germany) or World War II (Soviet Union, U.K. France vs. Germany) or (Japan vs. United States). Your paper should provide the historical background which led to the confrontation, a short retelling of the war, and an analysis of the ultimate outcome.
