Explain why you think it’s important if you think it’s important. If you don’t think it’s useful, why don’t you explain why nursing theory isn’t useful to the profession? When asked why we chose nursing as a profession, the majority of us say it is because we enjoy caring for others in their time of need.

This is one of the most fundamental definitions of the word caring. Nurses appear to be predisposed to notice other people’s pain and seek ways to alleviate it. The majority of the nursing process involves detecting human suffering, implementing interventions to alleviate that suffering, evaluating those interventions, and making changes if those interventions are ineffective. Watson believed that caring was more than just something nurses did or believed in; she created a theory known as the “core of nursing” because its carative factors serve as a guide to promote therapeutic healing and relationship building between nurse and patient.
Another theorist with an interesting idea of caring is Kolcaba and the Comfort Theory and Practice. This theory integrates nursing research, theory, and practice into an interpersonal relationship between healthcare provider and patient care with the common nursing goal of care.
