For this units assignment, you will look in more depth at womens prison nursery programs. After researching and reading about any two of the programs listed below, you will not only explore the programs themselves, but you will be able to explain these prison nursery programs and add your own personal thoughts. You will begin by picking two of the prison programs listed below: Indiana Womens Wee Ones Nursery New Yorks Bedford Hills Prison Nursery Illinois Decatur Correctional Facilitys Moms and Babies Program Ohio Reformatory for Womens Achieving Baby Care Success Program CRJ 2200, Theory and Practices of Corrections 3 Part 1: For each of the two programs you chose, provide a one-page summary. Be sure to include: how the program works, who is accepted, and the history of the program. If you find costs, success rates, or any other pertinent information about each program, include that as well. Part 2: After reading about each program, including your own thoughts. Remember, while this is your opinion, you need to back up your thoughts with academic sources. Think about the following questions. Do you agree with the use of prison nurseries? Be sure to explain why. Are there any negative impacts that you foresee for a child raised in prison? What about these programs do you think works well? What do you think needs to be changed? Do you think taxpayers should be paying for nursery programs? Why, or why not? Part 2 must be at least one page in length. You may include any other relevant information on this page. You must use at least three sources (one for each facility and one dealing with nursery programs in general).
