I have always been taught that ethical behavior is doing the right thing, even when no one else is around to witness it. It is choosing to not lie, cheat, steal or hurt others, but it is also stepping up to intervene when you are a witness to wrongdoing.

According to Netting, O’Conner, and Fauri “Given different ways of viewing ethics, it is important for the planner to consider an ethical framework built on critical thinking to aid in determining what constitutes ethical conduct “(2008). There are always going to be issued with ethics when it comes to dealing with people. The first issue many will face is the fact that everyone has a different standard when it comes to ethics. Some have had formal training and understand the importance of this topic. Where others have no clue what this phrase even means. Some individuals understand that ethics is very important and it should be followed at all times where others don’t care about certain issues until it actually affects them.

The only way to address this issue is to give clear and concise instructions at the beginning of the research. It would be beneficial to let the participants know that it is important to be truthful in all answers. You can then only ask the information given is truthful.

The cells in our body are complex cells called eukaryotic cells. Prokaryotic cells are very simple, like bacteria. Prokaryotic cells tend to be less organized and more primitive, whereas eukaryotic cells like our skin, liver, and brain cells benefit from the complexity of organization and compartmentalization. Although simple, prokaryotic cells like bacteria are not compartmentalized like human and animal cells, but they seem to function as they need to.

Bacteria have been around for millions of years and survive in the harshest of conditions. Is being complex always beneficial?

Imagine that you are the new director of Little Flower Child Care Center. Review the “Overview of Early Childhood Care Center” document to learn more about your staff and their leadership style and temperament. You are faced with two concerns from parents regarding staff at your center:

  1. Families are concerned about the ethical reliability of a staff member who was arrested for driving while intoxicated (DWI). The DWI arrest was published in the local newspaper and a constituent of parents voiced outrage. Families of the children in the center are calling for the teacher’s resignation.   2. Another group of parents have voiced concerns about staff members who are texting on their mobile phones while caring for their children. You have issued a new policy banning cell phones during work hours, except in the case of emergency. They say that it is an unfair rule that disrespects their personal freedom and family obligations.
