Comic Strip or Political Cartoon Analysis
Im stuck on a English question and need an explanation.
Option #1: Analysis of an Individual Comic Strip or Political Cartoon
Choose one comic strip or political cartoon. If you visit the website of a newspaper such as The Baltimore Sun, The New York Times, The Washington Post, etc., you should be able to search for comic strips or political cartoons easily.
Which techniques does the creator of the comic strip use? How does the creator make his/her point in the comic strip? What do we learn about the characters and/or ourselves from this comic strip or political cartoon? If colors are available, what do they tell us about this comic or cartoon? What language is used and how can that be interpreted?
And importantly, which of the key terms from the topic lesson can you discuss in your analysis? For example, how of elements of imagery, symbolism, metaphor, and/or irony help reveal the cartoon’s message?
As with all academic essays you write in this course, this essay should have a well-defined introduction with a thesis statement, body, and conclusion.
In essence, what are some of the physical elements present in the cartoon1 – characters, text, colors, etc., along with figurative elements such as metaphor and symbolism, that help to explain the cartoon’s message? It can be helpful to focus on a single element in the cartoon in its own body paragraph (including the element in the topic sentence and in the thesis) and describe how it portrays the cartoon’s message before moving to the next cartoon feature in a new paragraph.
Sample Thesis Statement: “John Smith uses (add one element from the cartoon), (add a second element from the cartoon), and (add a third element from the cartoon) to show (add the cartoon’s message).”
A successful analysis will go beyond the obvious, literal elements of the cartoon and will analyze figurative elements, too. Use the course topic lessons to inform your analysis.
Option #2: Analysis of Multiple Comic Strips or Political Cartoons
Choose two political cartoons or comic strips created by the same person. Which techniques does the creator of the political cartoons use? How does the author make his/her point in the political cartoons? What do we learn about the characters and/or ourselves from these political cartoons? How does the language transmit the creator’s message? Using a comparison or contrast mode of development, draw conclusions about the techniques the author uses in the political cartoons and how they apply to our lives. As with all academic essays you write in this course, this essay should have a well-defined introduction with a thesis statement, body, and conclusion.
Use the point-by-point or subject-by-subject structure to compare and contrast about three to five elements found in the cartoons that help to explain how they apply to our lives or to a message present in today’s society. After you compare and contrast each paragraph, be sure to explain the message those elements and the cartoons help to depict.
Sample Thesis Statement: “John Smith’s cartoon strips Cartoon 1 and Cartoon 2 use (add one element from the cartoon), (add a second element from the cartoon), and (add a third element from the cartoon) to explain (add the cartoon’s message).”
Be sure to document the cartoon or comic strip on a Works Cited page. Please visit the following source for citing an electronic image: https://owl.english.purdue.edu/owl/resource/747/08/

Persuasion
For this assignment, review the basic concepts of persuasion discussed in Cialdini (2001) and McLean (2012). Then take a close look at the first few slides of Jernigan (2013) and make sure you are clear on the distinction between argument, persuasion, and propaganda.
Once you have finished reviewing the background materials, think about communication that you receive in your daily life that is intended to sway your attitudes, opinion, or behavior. This could be communication from your employer, YouTube videos, TV advertisements, spam email, and a host of other communication that you are exposed to in your daily life. After reviewing some communication examples, write a 3-page paper addressing the following questions:
- Describe a communication example that you have seen that is best described as propaganda. In addition to describing the communication, explain why you think this was propaganda rather than argumentation or persuasion. Use the distinctions spelled out by Jernigan (2013) in your answer.
- Now find a communication example that you think is a good example of argumentation. Describe the example and explain why you think it fits the definition of argumentation described by Jernigan (2013).
- Last, but definitely not least, find an example of persuasion that you think best fits the definition of Jernigan (2013) as well as exemplifies the concepts of persuasion discussed in Cialdini (2001) or McLean (2012). Explain why you think this communication best fits the definition of persuasion rather than propaganda or argumentation.

Background Information
In the field of social work, we need to develop our abilities to understand, analyze, and critique social policies (which are also known as laws or legislation, or even acts). Social policies may be developed at the city level, with city lawmakers enacting policies that affect the citys population on a variety of fronts, including sewage treatment, programs to assist the citys poor and homeless, how city lawmakers are elected, and other issues. Similarly, policies are enacted at the state and federal government level. All policies that we learn about today have been influenced by historical events. In this workshop, we will take a look at some of those historical events and how they have impacted certain groups.

Help me study for my Management class. Im stuck and dont understand.
Hello,
This is a two part assignment. Here are the instructions:
The Group Project deliverables for this module activity are a Level 0 Data Flow Diagram (DFD) and Entity Relationship Diagrams (ERDs). Completion of these activities wrap up the Group Project Analysis Phase process.
You will utilize the data from the two Casual Format Use Cases that you created in Module 5 to create two DFD fragments. After creating the two DFD fragments, you will integrate the two DFD fragments to create a Level 0 DFD.
The techniques and processes that you practiced in the previous individual practical exercises will be utilized in this activity.
Read each section, and review the responsibilities of this module.
Task One
Create DFD fragments and a Level 0 DFD utilizing Microsoft Visio®. Before you begin to work on creating your DFD fragments, review the Microsoft Project and Microsoft Visio page tutorials. These tutorials will present data that can assist you with utilizing Visio to create your DFD fragments and the Level 0 DFD. Refer to the course textbook for examples of DFD fragments and a Level 0 DFD.
To create the DFD fragments and the Level 0 DFD, utilize the Data Flow Model Diagram template. Ensure that you select the Categories (not Featured) menu selection from above the templates that are presented and select Software and Database/Data Flow Model Diagram/Create.
Be sure to select the DATA FLOW MODEL DIAGRAM template and NOT the Data Flow Diagram template. The two templates have very similar titles.
Your DFDs data must address the following requirements:
- Submit TWO DFD fragments on PAGE ONE in the Microsoft Visio diagram (VSDX).
- Submit the Level 0 DFD on PAGE TWO in the Microsoft Visio diagram.
