A health care organization may have highly qualified doctors and nurses who meet quality indicators for technical quality; however, due to a lack of communication, empathy, and scheduled office hours, patient satisfaction is low. In the corporate world, the phrase “the customer is always right” is frequently used to emphasize the importance of meeting the needs and expectations of the consumer. How does this approach apply to health care?

Health care industries are now using quality improvement models that are very business-centric to improve the quality of care delivery, patient satisfaction, and safety. In this Discussion, you evaluate various quality improvement models and determine which model would best be applied in your practice setting to address a specific need. You also develop a mission statement for addressing the practice problem.

To prepare:

Reflect on the various quality improvement models and their application in health care presented in the Learning Resources.

Evaluate the advantages and disadvantages of each model.

Part III: Family Newsletter

A month has passed, and it is time to update the families on their children’s progress.

Your newsletter should should include:

• An overview of learning and development that has taken place in the classroom since the first month of school.
• A welcome to families and an invitation to volunteer or become involved in the classroom community at Blue Stream Early Childhood Center. Provide at least one specific way families can volunteer or become involved in the classroom community.
• At least one recommendation for promoting their child’s emotional, social, cognitive, or physical development at home.

Read the 10-K and use it to calculate the following ratios. Be sure to clearly label and show your calculations and reference the information from the 10-K in APA format.

Please choose a nationally recognized company for providing high-quality services or products. Management is concerned that the company is not fully exploiting its brand power. Imagine that Company’s production managers are concerned because their productive capacities are not operating at near full capacity. Management is currently considering a proposal to offer a new line of affordable new products or services.

Those in favor of the proposal (including the vice president of production) believe that, by offering these new products or services, the company could attract a clientele that it is not currently servicing. Also, it could operate its plants at full capacity, thus taking better advantage of its assets.

The vice president of marketing, however, believes that the lower-priced (and lower-margin) product or service would have a negative impact on the sales of existing products or services. The vice president believes that the equivalent of 20% of current year’s sales of the new low cost product or service will be from customers that would have purchased the more expensive product but switched to the lower-margin product or service because it was available. (This is often referred to as cannibalization of existing sales.) Top management feels, however, that even with cannibalization, the company’s sales will increase and the company will be better off.

Chapter 6 Communicating the Change Vision – Remember that there is no one perfect way to communicate change. Change is uncomfortable and adapting to change is chaotic. The perfect chart does not a painless change experience make. Why? Because tasks are easy to list, but behavior and long-held habits are not easy to change. Mindfulness has its roots in the meditative practices of Buddhist meditation, which many spiritual leaders and psychologists have recognized for their correlation to wellbeing. Mindfulness as it is defined and applied within psychology is not synonymous with the traditional Buddhist concept of mindfulness, however, since in the psychological field it is usually removed from its religious and cultural context. Mindfulness-based CBT, rather, is inspired by this tradition and was specifically designed to treat people with anxiety disorders. Mindfulness practices have proven effective at reducing stress levels, and their popularity continues to grow as more practitioners incorporate them into their treatment plans.

This week, you explore mindfulness and acceptance-based CBT approaches through the Learning Resources. You also explore treatment outcomes for different issues to which it has been applied and reflect on a simple mindfulness exercise that you complete at home. You will continue your practice of mindfulness techniques during the residency week.

• As you view the media program, follow along with Dr. Rampes and complete the activity using all of your senses during the experience.
