Need help with my Political Science question – Im studying for my class.
In Federalist 10, James Madison put forth the idea that in order to keep any one group from becoming too powerful in government, and to preserve the protections of freedom the Founders worked so hard to craft, that there must be mechanisms to allow for competition among groups. We can see evidence of this in the First Amendment allowing Americans the right of the people peaceably to assemble, and to petition the Government for a redress of grievances. The ability for us to join together for a common cause is not a new idea, but Madison and the Founders wanted to ensure that our right to form common interest groups was legally protected. We see this in modern times expressed in interest groups. There are numerous interest groups in the country that range from local groups to national to international. Some are well funded and some struggle for funding. Some interest groups are about a single issue (NRA and gun rights) and some are much more broad (AARP and rights/treatment of retired persons).
In Texas, we have interest groups that are state specific, like Empower Texans or the Texas Community College Teachers Association, and there are also state chapters of national interest groups such as Texas NAACP or Texas Farm Bureau Association. These groups are made up of people who have a common interest in promoting, protecting, or creating public policies that benefit their members goals. We are free to join any interest group we would like to, however, some groups have membership requirements. The AARP require members to be over 55 years old, the American Medical Association requires members to hold a medical license, the Texas Bar Association requires members to be lawyers, and so on.
Information to help you answer this question will be found in Chapters 6 and 12 of your textbook.
In your original post you must:
- Identify a strong interest group in the state of Texas.
- Describe what area of public policy this interest group tries to influence/impact.
- Identify a specific recent law/regulation that this interest group has been able to influence/impact within the last ten years.
- Explain in some detail what actions this interest group took to influence/impact this public policy.
Post must also include:
- Works Cited at least 2 sourcesMUST BE credible sources. To determine if your source is credible, you can visit: http://rasmussen.libanswers.com/faq/32400
- 250 original-content words (this means quotes do not count towards word count)
- Post must be written in paragraph format. Do NOT use numbering or bullet points. There is no need to include the original questions in your post.
Respond paper
Im studying for my Film class and dont understand how to answer this. Can you help me study?
Response Papers: Response papers are to be formal in style, have a clear thesis, cite where appropriate, and be at least 5 pages in length (not including works cited page). You will have free reign to choose how you want to approach the paper topic. The paper should focus on one of the films the week’s viewings. You may consider writing a critical analysis of the film or approaching it from an interpretive/allegorical perspective (i.e. what is the film saying about, or indicative of beyond the scope of the story line within the screen). I leave this open to give you the opportunity to approach the film from whatever your specialization or interest may be. So, if you’re a sociology major, you may want to approach the material from that perspective and draw on your background in that field, if you’re a film major you may want to take a more technical approach, etc. I also encourage you to draw on and include secondary sources (this can include class readings, but feel free to take it beyond our readings), this will depend on how you decide to approach the film. Feel free to contact me with questions and thoughts that come up as you begin brainstorming and writing.

Each unit examination includes a written component. This assignment may be in the form of written questions or case study problems. The writing assignment affords the student an opportunity to demonstrate a level of subject mastery beyond the objective unit examinations, which reflects his/her ability to analyze, synthesize, evaluate and apply his/her knowledge. The writing assignment materials are found immediately following each unit examination.Writing assignments are judged on the quality of the response in regard to the question. Word count is NOT one of the criteria that is used in assigning points to writing assignments. However, students who are successful in earning the maximum number of points tend to submit writing assignments that fall in the following ranges: 350 – 500 per question.
Citation StylesThe majority of your response should be your own original writing based on what you have learned from the textbook. However, students may also use outside materials if applicable. Be sure to provide a citation and a reference for any materials used, including the required textbook. The following points are designed to help you understand how to provide proper citations and references for your work:Sources are listed in two places. The first, a citation, is briefly listed within your answer. Thisincludes identifying information that directs the reader to your list of references at the end of your writing assignment. The second, a reference, is at the end of your work in the list of references section. All sources cited should follow APA style and provide enough identifying information so that the reader can access the original material.More detailed information about citations and references can be located on the Coast Connection student portal. You can find this in the portal by clicking on Student Resources and then Writing Lab

Watch Darkman and write a discussion paper
Can you help me understand this Film question?
Class participation (i.e. discussion board posts) is an irreplaceable part of the learning process in this course. You will be evaluated on the QUALITY of your contributions and insights. A quality comment possesses one or more of the following properties:
Offers a different and unique, but relevant, perspective
Contributes to moving the discussion and analysis forward
Builds on other comments
Includes evidence, argumentation, or reflective thinking while moving beyond opinion or value judgment.
Note: While points allocated will not be based on length or number of words, it will be exceedingly difficult to achieve the above benchmarks in one or two sentences.
Film Writing: Best Practices
As this course is mainly engaged with film, you will be required to use time markers for each in-text citation: (Title of the Film Hour:Min:Sec) eg. (Batman 01:23:15). Because you will need to reference a fair amount of evidence in your analysis and writing (direct quotes, scenes from the films, articles, etc.), I highly suggest that you watch the film with subtitles on so you are able to write down the exact quote. You are expected to read and watch the entirety of whatever is assigned. If you take notes as you read, you will be much more prepared for the written assignments. Also, remember to save all of your work often and in multiple locations.

APA FORMAT
Descriptive Paragraph
I need an explanation for this English question to help me study.
Outdoor Experience Description Detail a real or imaginary experience walking through an outdoor event or activity, such as a zoo, open-air market, festival, etc.
You only need to develop one paragraph for this assignment, but it should include many sensory details and directional transitions. Start with a topic sentence, which will also serve as the thesis statement, that explains the exhibition you are experiencing as well as mentions how the adventure ignites your senses. In the sentences following, describe your journey. What do you see? Hear? Feel? Smell? Taste? Where are these experiences located (directional transitions)? To the right? Just above? The reader should be able to build the environment around you and take part in the sensory experience you illustrate as he or she reads along, so be as descriptive as necessary, touching upon all five senses within the body paragraph. Finally, complete your paragraph with a concluding sentence that summarizes your outing, and make sure it has a point! In other words, what did you take away from this excursion?
Sample thesis statement: As I walk toward the Brookfield Zoo entrance gate for my first zoo experience, I notice a flurry of lively activity in front of me, so on my way to the gorilla den, I can feel my excitement building, and as I get closer, the sounds and smells strengthen, making the chill of my cold beverage much more apparent; I hope I am ready for this.
Notes
· You can use either past or present tense verbs to describe your experience in this assignment, but avoid unnecessary tense shifts.
· In addition to directional transitions, be sure to use standard transitions between sentences where applicable so that your ideas are fluid from start to finish.
